Re: Punt God named in civil suit rape…
Who does he sign with?
Former Bills punter Matt Araiza will not face charges from allegations that he participated in a gang-rape.

Re: Punt God named in civil suit rape…
I'm honestly very happy with Sam Martin, and already forgot Araiza.

I have always said why the **** would you WASTE a draft pick on a punter because I’d I still feel this way. Before all you punt god guys are crazy, what round and pick was Brady?
Would you rather take a chance on a great positional player or a punter? Before you answer the punter, look at what we have right now and the one we let go that Cleveland picked up are doing fine.
I’ll take a shot in the dark horse and hope for a Brady type positional talent any day.

I don't know. Back then it looked like they added a cherry to a frosted cake, an actual punting weapon for special teams. It didn't turn out that way though, and it kind of seems to me that they fell back into actually adding a great pro punter who knows what he's doing and does it. So I guess they were forced to add an actual punting weapon for special teams, when punting wasn't a cherry on top of a frosted cake.
Sam Martin is a really good pro punter, and it turns out we needed more than a punter, anyway.
If they'd have taken anyone else there, he'd be on the pines because McDermott just loves him some vets anyway
Re: Punt God named in civil suit rape…
We could have had edge James Houston (who I wanted anyway) or RB Pacheco (the Chiefs 6th round steal).

Scouting is so important.
Since we grabbed Cook earlier ..... Houston would have been an excellent choice I wanted a Center.
Re: Punt God named in civil suit rape…
Good for him. Id take him back but martin has been very good.

No doubt it's arrogance. Beane felt the team was so good and so close to winning, he didnt care about loading up on depth players and instead wanted to add a new shiny toy.

Great point, to hell with shiny new, I’ll take old looking gold every time.
BTW, from the minute we picked this guy I was against it.
Re: Punt God named in civil suit rape…
Ariza did provide some cap relief vs Matt Haack. I didn't like the pick. Rookies make rookie mistakes.
Happier with Martin.
Re: Punt God named in civil suit rape…
LOL! Teams draft punters.
As for Araiza and Martin, Martin is on a 1-year deal and will likely be gone next year because he'll want big money. I'd sign Araiza for the minimum.

Bringing him back will never happen.
Re: Punt God named in civil suit rape…
Martin - 27 punts in 12 games.

The only reason I wouldn't bring him back is because he wasn't honest with the team. He should have told them of the potential problem. He's been cleared and will be punting somewhere next season.

IMO it's a PR thing. You can't cut a guy for potentially being a rapist and then bring him back, especially with a civil suit hanging over his head.
Also, who knows what the league will do in terms of discipline? The NFL is horribly inconsistent and has suspended guys who were never convicted of anything. There's no backup punter. If he gets suspended, whatever team he's on is going to be in a really difficult situation.
