Ertz has the same amount of catches while having a guy behind center who is a few levels below Josh Allen.
Would you then dump Knox? The Bills seem like they only wanted 1 pass catching TE as they cut Hollister.

I'm not saying to dump him.
Ertz would be an upgrade on him though.

Short to intermediate I am there with you. I don't think he has the wheels like Knox on the deeper stuff

We shall see starting next week when he has a real QB throwing him the ball.

too much money so he was never an option.

I would have traded Wildgoose for a bottle of Wild Turkey.

the season is early. Knox might end up stinking when teams clamp down on him.

Maybe...and just maybe for a year.
Knox is looking like one of the foundations of a long term Bills offensive juggernaut....and still has room to progress.
Ertz is at the end of his career with only degradation to look forward to.
The "upgrade" would be minor at best and very transitory.
Re: Would you have traded Wildgoose + 5th for Ertz today?
I'm not even saying Ertz would be an upgrade. He'd be a top-5 TE2, a capable fill-in for injury, and help Knox get even better.
Seems worth a 5th rd'er to me, but BFO knows more than me.

$$$$$$$$$$$ kept us away.
What message are you sending ..... is something else to consider.
They got a player and a draft pick for him .... too much for my blood.
Re: Would you have traded Wildgoose + 5th for Ertz today?
The Bills have been very, very selective in their FA pick-ups. I think they'd much rather just develop their own talent and they've showed that. Diggs was different. That's a proven #1 option early on in his career. I don't think a guy like Ertz (high priced and aging with some injury concerns) is the kind of player this FO goes after. Normally we go after solid veterans with the right personality/character to fill in needed holes on FA. At this stage in the game though, we don't really have any holes.

Yeah, that's fair. A restructure probably would've had to have been a requisite as well.
Re: Would you have traded Wildgoose + 5th for Ertz today?
And what did Knox do last night?
A whole lot of nothing.
You guys get enamored when a dude has one big game and think he's the next coming of whomever or makes a proven star expendable...or it makes him better than one of the best in the league at the position.

he had a broken hand when he passed the ball to convert the 2 pt. conversion.
Re: Would you have traded Wildgoose + 5th for Ertz today?
Would've been great to make that move now.
Knox's pass with a broken hand is legend. Would have been more a story had we won.
