    ZGONINA READY TO WALK

Though he recently has been named a team captain for the 2003 season, it's still not a sure thing that Rams defensive tackle Jeff Zgonina will be wearing blue and gold come September.

According to a league source, the Rams aren't willing to pay Zgonina a starter's salary, even though he started all 16 games in 2002.

Zgonina, a ten-year veteran who'll become an unrestricted free agent in March, already is drawing quiet interest from other teams.

This guy any good? Could the bills be a team who have a quiet interest?

Isn't there a Buffalo Suburb named after him?

He didn't start until his seventh season in the league, but he's been the key cog in the middle of the Rams' defensive machinery, starting the last three seasons. Despite the team using a couple high draft picks at the position, Zgonina refuses to give up his spot.

He's a little on the smallish side, but his motor always runs. A good effort type of player. Purdue grad.

might be a good pickup if we get Spikes. Wont cost as much as Douglas, but might work just as well. High motors often lead to sacks too

No doubt is motor is always running, but do we want a 10 year vet or do we want someone not as long in the tooth?

You are confusing him with Gowanda.

I don't really think it matters. In these days of turn over, free agency and short term success a team can always use as much depth as possible...if he is free and the price is right then bring him in.

he is a decent 2nd option IMO...not that there are any first options out there...
                    Its all about the quest.

Physical presence on defensive line ... solid run stopper ... is force on special teams ... strength is biggest asset ... pronounced ska-KNEE-na...Dependable, solid veteran leader…tremendous strength in upper and lower body…fiery player…Only 28 tackles in 16 starts last year...with 4 sacks...i say he is worth bringing in if the price is right.

He would be a short term solution. I'm not against short term solutions, but I would always look first for something longer term.
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

If he can give us 1 or 2 good years, thats all we really need out of him.

If he's only ready to walk, then we should wait for him to be able to run if we want to sign him here...

Replace Donahoe with Modrak and fire the entire coaching staff!
