I am really hoping he can be my future at the position but his injuries the last 2 years concern me. When he is on the field he is a good one.

Ill give you Jeff Faine for a bag of cool ranch doritos.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
    It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Lawson was a nice pick, especially late in round 2. In my other sim league, I took him 13th overall. He'll make a nice bookend in my 3-4 defense on the opposite side of Shawne "Lights Out" Merriman.

I got the 2 players I've been targetting for the 2nd and 3rd rounds, so I'm pretty happy thus far.

That's who I thought about trading up for with you. I'm just not sold on him. He has to learn a new position and he's one of them tweeners.

He might turn into a good player but it won't be anytime soon. I think he'll be nothing more then a pass rusher at the next level. Considering I had the chance to get him I hope I'm right, lol

I'm happy with Kiwankua. He will also take a couple years but the Giants have been breeding great DE's since Coughlin arrived. And god knows I need them too. They are a lot harder to find then LB's.

I know what you mean by draft picks, Saburz. The guy who had this team last was MIA for like the first 4 rounds. Just missed all of his picks. Missed out on some great players. No wonder he bailed out.

This team doesn't have any cheap good talent because of that. Oh well, time to rebuild it.

I'm not too sure about that. I believe Lawson has more than enough athletic ability to become a very good OLB in a 3-4. As someone who played LOLB in a 3-4 waaaaaay back in the day, I know what it takes to play the position. Like Lawson, I switched from DE also, and I'm quite sure he's 10 times the athlete I ever was. I don't think he'll come out the gate dominating, but I wouldn't consider him just a situational player, either. Teams like Pittsburgh have done quite well stocking their roster w/ "tweeners" and putting them @ LB. Of course, w/ more teams adopting the 3-4, it's getting tougher to find them. Before the 3-4 became all the rage, you wouldn't have seen guys like Ware and Merriman go so high like they did last year. They would've been typical Steeler draft picks, probably 3rd or 4th round.

Plus this guy is intelligent as they come and an incredible physical speciman. The question should be 'How can he not make the transition?' This guy is a beast.

Lawson probably has this figured out by now -- he scored a remarkable 43 on the Wonderlic test that measures a person's intelligence. But it was not just Lawson's Wonderlic that stood out. So do some of his other numbers:
Lawson is 6-foot-6, 249 pounds. He runs the 40 in 4.41 seconds. He bench pressed 225 pounds 25 times. He vertical jumped 39 ½ inches. He long jumped 10.6 feet. Lawson is an engineering major, captain of his football team, ran track at North Carolina State and never has been injured.
