A look ahead to 2005 - Mock Draft

The following is a look at the top players, as we see them right now, for the 2005 NFL Draft. It is a listing of where we feel the players could go, not included are which teams will select them.

    1. Maurice Clarett RB Ohio St.*
Clarett had a sensational freshmen season, and should be a top pick whenever he decides to enter the draft. Clarett is a great power runner, but also has the speed to break away for a huge gain. He reminds me of former Buckeye back Eddie George.

    2. Reggie McNeal QB Texas A&M*
McNeal, a similar prospect to Michael Vick, is a tremendous athlete who moves around in the pocket very well. He has a powerful arm and is a threat to run for a touchdown on every play.

    3. Derrick Johnson OLB Texas
Johnson has incredible speed for a linebacker. He is a great athlete and is destined to be a star in the NFL. He plays very aggressively and is one of the hardest hitters at the collegiate level.

    4. Ahmad Carroll CB Arkansas
With his combination of size and speed, there is no doubt in my mind that Carroll will be a star in the NFL. His main weakness is that he does not have ideal size for a defensive back.

    5. Frank Gore RB Miami*
Gore is a very talented prospect, but a season ending injury has hurt his stock. He has great speed and has a similar style of play to Barry Sanders.

    6. Derek Anderson QB Oregon St.
Anderson came to Oregon St. with many expectations, and has not let anyone down. He played extremely well as a sophomore and is now one of the top prospects in his class. He has tremendous size for a quarterback and great strength.

    7. Mike Clayton WR LSU
Since his freshamn year when he caught 47 passes for 754 yards, Clayton has been a star at LSU. At 6-4, he is a constant match up problem for opposing defenses.

    8. Carnell Williams RB Auburn
Willimas, a former top prospect, had a very successful sophomore season with 10 touchdowns and 787 yards rushing. Look for him to have a huge season next year a bew in contention for the Heisman.

    9. Rodrique Wright DT Texas*
Rodrique has a scary combination of strength and speed, a defensive linemen should not be this quick. Wright may have a hard time standing out on Texas' stacked defensive line, but the talent is definitely there.

    10. Wesley Britt OT Alabama
Britt was one of the top offensive line prospects in the nation coming out of high school. He has great size for a tackle and excellent strength.
