    Sinden steps down

BOSTON (AP) - Harry Sinden, president of the Boston Bruins for the last 17 of his more than 40 years with the team, resigned Wednesday to become an adviser to club owner Jeremy Jacobs.

The move is the latest in the reorganization of a franchise that last won the Stanley Cup in 1972 and hired Peter Chiarelli as general manager and Dave Lewis as coach after last season.

The team said it would not hire a new president, but instead align all hockey operations under new general manager Peter Chiarelli.

Sinden, 74, said the timing is right for him to step down, as he's been moving toward an advisory capacity with the Bruins for some time. He added that he needed to step aside to ensure people know that the new management team was running the Bruins, not him.

Best thing to happen to the Bruins in 10 years!

Sinden made one good move his entire career. Trading for Cam Neely.

Then he single handed raped fans and destroyed one of hockeys greatest franchises.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
    It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

      Pretty much.

And that Joe Thornton trade last year...

The Joe Thorton thing wasn't a suprise in the least.

Good for Joe though he finally got the respect he deserved.

I know it wasn't a surprise, just another money saving move.

The Bruins are like the Chicago Blackhawks of the east.
A couple of teams that haven't done anything in over a decade and have cheap-ass owners.

The Bruins weren't cheap- just stupid with their money.

They went out like drunken sailors and blew their wad on Dave Scatchard (traded by christmas) Alexi Zhamnov (5 million a year and he never showed up) and an aging Brian Leetch
