The mid-Atlantic region will awaken to as much as a foot of new snow Friday morning as a coastal storm readies to exit the USA into the Atlantic Ocean. The nation's weather will quiet down for the better part of Friday, but there will still be pockets of rain and snow that could affect travel in parts of the USA.Comment

Philadelphia is expected to pick up 4-7 inches from the storm, while New York City gets probably 2-3 inches. Snow will wind down in the mid-Atlantic Friday morning, but most likely not before making a mess of the morning commute. Snow will ease around midday in New York. Boston should escape the snow, but southeast Massachusetts and the islands of Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard could get a few inches as the storm slips away.Comment
