    First Year Players

Lets take a look back at the 2004 Draft... How are your first year guys developing in the pro's.

    1. Cadillac Williams TB. Cadillac had a great 2005 campaign proving to be the best of the top 3 backs picked. His performance this year has dropped off significantly, through 12 weeks he only has one TD. I think a lot of the blame falls on Tampas lack of a passing game forcing 8 in the box at all times.

    NFL stat line:
    26GAMES 484ATT, 1902YARDS, 3.9AVG, 7.TD, 47.REC, 260.YDS, 5.FUM

    BZFL stat line:
    260.ATT 699.YARDS 2.7.AVG 5.TD, 22.REC, 159.YARDS 5.FUM

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

1.2 Travis Johnson HOU. Johnson has been a mystery to me so far. He has 1 sack in 24 games and only 31 tackles. He played a majority of the 2005 season at DE, and in 2006 he was moved to his natural tackle position. He is now on IR after 9 weeks.

    NFL stat line:
    24GAMES, 31TACK, 1.SACK, 1.PD

    BZFL stat line:
    10TACK, 1SACK, 3HURR, 3STUFFS, 2PD

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    3. OJ Atogwe STL. Oj showed me a ton of ability and leadership when he played for Stanford. He is a big hard nosed safety who flat out creams guys, with limited time in 2005 he showed the potential to be great and so far this year he has delivered.

    NFL stat line:
    24GAMES, 59TACK, 2SACK, 4INTS, 10PD

    BZFL stat line:
    6TACK

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    4. Courtney Roby TEN. Roby appeared in 13 games for Tennesee in 2005 as a slot receiver, 12 of his 21 catches going for a first down. He appeared to be going into the 06 as the 3rd WR. His 2006 campaign has been a bit....well terrible in 8 appearances he has just 2 receptions, and has lost KR duties.

    NFL stat line:
    21GAMES 23REC, 317YARDS, 1TD 13/1STDWNS

    BZFL stat line:
    8REC, 81YARDS, 7/1ST DOWNS

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    6. Calvin Armstrong PHI/GB. Calvin has already been cut by PHI and and not listed on GB's current depth chart. Calvin sucks and was a bad pick.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    7. Chauncey Davis ATL. Davis came out of FSU as a one year starter and with a lot of question marks. In 2005 his versatility got him 5 starts, and he scored his first TD as a pro.

    NFL stat line:
    28GAMES, 39TACK, 2SACK, 1INT

    BZFL stat line:
    12TACK

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

    8. Adam Kieft CIN. Adam Kieft has been recovering from knee surgery since 8/05. He has never stepped foot on the field.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

In hindsight I would give this draft a C-, with the exception of Williams and Atogwe I have basically only acquired situational guys. My tackle picks have been an utter disaster. And nobody will make a big impact on my BZFL team at least not in the next year or so.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
    It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

    1. David Pollack--- Broken neck, enough said.
    2. Logan Mankins--- Starting LG for the Pats 2 years in a row, rated 7 already, probably my best pick up to date. 300K salary, so I think I got him in the 3rd round
    3. Michael Roos-- OT, Titans, also a 3rd rounder, he's been starting at LT for the Titans for 28 straight games. Not a bad pick.
    4. Roydell Williams-- -WR, Titans. 21 grabs this year so far, 2 TDs. Not a great pick, but at least he's still in the NFL.
    5. Rasheed Marshall-- Not in the league
    6. Kelvin Hayden--- Backup CB for the Colts, he sucks.

I forgot TE Alex Smith. He's not bad, but he's hurt again, I believe.

        Round 1
        1. Derrick Johnson, LB University of Texas
Doing fairly well in KC. Had a nice first year w/ over 90 tackles. Injured this year, which has hurt his development.

        2. Thomas Davis, S/LB University of Georgia
Started right off the bat for Carolina, but quickly lost his starting safety job as he's not that great a safety. Has found a home as the starting weakside LB for the Panthers defense.

        Round 4
        CRAPhonso Thorpe, WR Florida State
Not in legue, as far as I know. A bust in KC who never even made the field.

        Round 5
        1. Chris Canty, DE University of Virginia
Starter for the Dallas Cowboys @ DE. Decent player; has experience playing in the 3-4 in college and the pros. Not a stat monster; just a solid guy who gets it done more often than not.

        2. Marion Barber, RB University of Minnesota
Used to sharing backfield duties (did so w/ Laurence Maroney in college; now w/ Julius Jones in Dallas), he's a tough runner w/ a nose for the goal line (has 13 TDs this season). Makes a great 1-2 punch w/ Jones in Dallas...and w/ the Assassins once we upgrade our interior offensive line.

          How about this year's picks?

1.) Santonio Holmes---After a rocky start, he's playing extremely well for the Steelers. He's looking like the next Hines Ward.

2.) Marcus McNeill--- Starting Left Tackle for the Chargers every game this year. Looking to be a very good pick at this point.

3.) Rashad Butler, OT--- Hasn't stepped on the field yet this season. Not too great of a pick here.

4.) Darnell Bing--- Another pick who hasn't seen the field yet. Poop!

5.) Rodrique Wright, DT--- See the above 2 picks. Same situation here. 3 piles of crap in a row.

6.) Ryan O'Callaghan, OG--- Possibly the best value of the draft right here. Starting RT for the Pats for 10 games this year (hurt for the other 2). Could turn out to be this year's Logan Mankins.

7.) Jason Avant, WR--- He has as many tackles (3) as he does receptions. I think that speaks for itself.

            Re: First Year Players

1a) Nagoti DT Ravens starter day one
1b) Addai RB Colts sharing this year but showing his talent
2a) R. McIntosh LB Washington could not get a starting job on a bad defense
2b) J. Cutler qb Got his first start (ugly as it was) but looks like a bright future
3a) J. Norwood rb Atlanta sharing time but "ditto" cutler
            4) Dusty Dvorcek DT chicago IR enough said
            5) Barry Coefield DT starter from day one, doing very well and my steal of the draft
            6) Brandon Marshall WR denver back up player that got his first touchdown, he has potential. He always was a wait and see prospect.
            7) Adam Jennings haven’t heard much besides helping on special teams

So one bust at LB and my last pick isn’t panning out, not a bad draft.

                2004

This year 53 tackles 7 sacks 3 forced fumbles, 1 DEF TD

This year 70 tackles, 1 forced fumble

CB Eric Green - Has played solid as the starting CB at AZ.

Last year 41 tackles, 1 INT, 1 forced fumble
This year 36 tackles, 1 forced fumble

                2005

OLB Kamerion Wimbley - Excellent rookie year and will play alongside Ware for a long time.
