Lions to meet with NFL's diversity committee

(March 3, 2003 8:45 p.m. EST) - The Detroit Lions will meet with the NFL's diversity committee Tuesday in Palm Beach, Fla., to discuss the process that led to the hiring of Steve Mariucci last month.

I think this is a load of crap. They wanted Steve Mariucci, what's so wrong with that? Why should a team have to pretend to want an african-american guy when they already know who they want to coach. No one is raising a fuss that the Lions didn't interview any other white guys.
