I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
    It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Looks like you'll be a strong contender again. Your QB will tail off a bit, and you'll need another RB production-wise, but a still a rather solid roster.

Cadillac Williams will be a bit of a letdown. McNair is a sound QB, based on this year.

Nice defense. Atogwe had a really nice season, so he'll jump in the ratings.

If you recall I traded back into the 3rd round 2 years ago to get OJ. He will also allow me to cut Eugene Wilson who is the walking wounded. But you're right as always RB is a problem for me. Thankfully I have more cap room than anyone and should be able to get a productive back, even if I have to over spend.

    Re: Projected 2006 BZFL Rosters

The Bushwhackers, as of right now, should be slated as pre-season favorites to win BZFL in 2007. Here's how they shape, without any moves:

    Defense:

    DE Aaron Kampman
    DT Rocky Benard
    DT Kelly Gregg
    DE Jared Allen/Bobby McCray

    OLB-- Lance Briggs
    OLB-- Morlon Greenwood
    MLB-- Brian Urlacher

    CB--- Sam Madison, Tory James
    S-- Troy Polamalu
    S-- Lamont Thompson

    Offense:

    QB-- Marc Bulger
    RB-- Willy Parker, Deshaun Foster
WR-- Laverneous Coles, Issac Bruce, Antonio Bryant, Dennis Northcutt
    TE-- Antonio Gates
OT-- Jeff Backus, Todd Weiner, John Tait, Shane Olivea, Michael Roos, Ryan O'Callaghan
OG-- David Diel, Ben Hamilton, Logan Mankins
    C-- Shaun O'hara, Brad Meester

Your defense is sick especially at linebacker and safety. Burgess and Williams are 1 of the best at their respective positions. Do you have any rookies projected to start next year?

    Re: Projected 2006 BZFL Rosters

    This will most certainly change.

    Offense:
    QB: Tom Brady
    RB: Ruben Droughns/Cedric Benson
    FB: BJ Askew
    WR: Reggie Wayne
    WR: Eric Parker
    TE: Jason Witten
    LT: Kevin Shaffer
    LG: Mike Wahle
    C: Rex Hadnot
    RG: Chris Snee
    RT: Max Starks

    K: Josh Scobee
    P: Matt McBriar

    Defense:
    DE:
    Igor Olshansky
    DT: John Henderson
    DT: Anthony McFarland/Kemo
    DE: Robert Geathers
    OLB: Brian Simmons
    ILB: Demeco Ryans
    OLB: DeMorrio Williams
    CB: Ken Lucas
    CB: Anthony Henry
    FS: Chris Crocker
    SS: Adrian Wilson

Injury bug bit big time this year. Lost both starting DE's (Kearse and Hayword) and my RB's crapped the bed big time although Benson did a lot more this year.

    Not really.

Super Mario will probably be rated right around where Canty is, if not a bit lower. Canty isn't a stat monster, but is a very solid DE for a 3-4.

Chad Jackson is still developing as a WR and will fight for time on my depth chart considering the season Devery Henderson is having in 'Nawlins.

Winston Justice and Max Jean-Gilles have done just about nothing in Philly as they're stuck behind some pretty good players on the depth chart.

The rookies who might, depending on their rankings, get some reps for me next year are DT Gabe Watson (fairly decent year for the Cards, but only got to start due to Kendrick Clancy's injury) and G Kevin Boothe (in an article a while back, Raiders C Jake Grove said Boothe was the Raiders' best OL to that point in the year; he's probably right).

Guys like WR Maurice Stovall and DBs Alan Zemaitis and Calvin Lowry will be hard pressed to make the roster, as they've had very little playing time this year.

    Re: Projected 2006 BZFL Rosters

I do like my defense this year, and my offense if I can get some improvements from my interior OL. Artis Hicks is the starter @ RG for the Vikings and is okay. Birk came back w/ another Pro Bowl year, so I expect him to be in the 8-9 range (hopefully 9) next season.

My estimated rankings for my projected lineups (not counting the so-called "skill players"):

    DEFENSE

    DE Derrick Burgess (9)
    DT Jamal Williams (10)
    DE Chris Canty (7)
LB Karlos Dansby (7 or 8)
    LB Jonathan Vilma (9)
    LB Nick Barnett (7)
LB Joey Porter (8 or 9)
    CB Dunta Robinson (7)
    CB Nathan Vasher (8)
    SS Bob Sanders (8)
    FS Sean Taylor (9)

    OFFENSE

    T Jonathan Ogden (8 or 9)
    G Cosey Coleman (6 or 7)
    C Matt Birk (9)
    G Artis Hicks (6.5 or 7)
    T Bryant McKinnie (8)
    TE Desmond Clark/Ben Troupe
    WR Lee Evans/Corey Bradford
    WR Devery Henderson/Brandon Lloyd
FB Ovie Mugheli (should have a nice jump in the blocking back ratings; good special teamer too)
    HB Julius Jones/Marion Barber
    QB Byron Leftwich<!-- / message -->

I'll probably be looking to move some OT's in the off season. Once the rankings come out, I'll let you know.

You have a solid defense there. Some problems I see is B. Sanders injuries this year, as well as, I would guess Vilma will more likely be rated a 7, apparantly he is in a defense that does not work well with his style of play. I know at the beginning of the year he was struggling. As for S. Taylor, did he really play that well?

Yeah. Sanders' injury will hurt, and I'll probably lose him for about 10 games or so. I'm weak depth-wise @ SS, so that'll be an area to address in free agency.

Vilma a 7? Could be. He did have a significant dropoff in tackles this year (from 124 solos to 66), even though the rest of his numbers are about where they were last year. I may have to re-think that projected 9. He was an 8 last year, he may indeed be a 7 this coming season.

Taylor? Well, he played on a defense that underachieved like crazy, but you can't blame him. He was a 9 last year w/ 60 solo tackles and 10 assists, 2 INTs and 10 passes defensed. This year, he had 86 solo tackles, 25 assists, 1 INT, and 6 passes defensed. Based on that, he should be a 9 again, I'd say.
