resign players whose contracts are up?

or do they HAVE to go to the FA pool... i have 1 or 2 players i'd like to keep... one of which came off a rookie contract and the other is a veteran... can i tag them or resign them any way?

ALSO... I need a QB, and safety help.. have some LB's and maybe a CB i could trade....

I believe you can re-sign a player twice. AFter that, he's an automatic FA.
