Doesn't make much sense either unless they move Esche. They have a young goalie in Nittimaki (sp?)Originally Posted by BlackMetalNinja

This guy worth anything? I guess will he be a solid backup?

This is only the start. I can only assume they opened up about 1.5 mil for another move.
Darcy only makes a deal if he can win it, im thinking Guerin. You now have a extra draft pick to throw at them for a rental. Maybe A.Miller, they may still need to make room. This is just a tip of the ice berg. Its go timeOriginally Posted by DraftBoy
Biron for 2nd round from Philly
Conklin for 5th round from Buffalo
And a sterling 3-12-2 record in the AHL!Originally Posted by Philagape

Only a second?
the 2nd rounder might be from the Nashville deal so it is a low 2nd. Or did they just trade a 3rd?
Don Luce must like Marty and believes he can sign him long term. Either way, that pick will probably be moved for another player.
I knew it was going to happen but I'm sad to see Marty go. Especially to Philly. Ewwww.
Conklin is an average backup at best.
They better maxiumize this new room, or that will piss me off.Originally Posted by Canadian'eh!

Now lets go after the Buffalo boy
“You hold a players only meeting and get each guy to stand up and say what he can bring to the table... and if he doesn't, you punch him in the face.” ~~ Harry Neale, on how to fix the Sabres season.
I'm happy to have Conklin so the Belfour rumors die.
Well maybe philly is holding nashville second, and we get their high secondOriginally Posted by TheGhostofJimKelly
Conklin makes $525,000, so we've cleared about about $1.6 million. Add Gaustad and Connolly, and we've gotta have over $5 million available. (although I'm not sure what Connolly's status is as of yesterday)
He is a UFA after this year, were lucky we got SOMETHING for the guy. A 2nd rounder plus opening up cap room.. you are CRAZY if you do not like that deal.
Yeah, If we didn't trade him, we'd get nothing for him, now we free up 2.2 Million in cap space, and get draft picks for him. Sabres Also Sent a Pick and Brought in Ty Conklin from Columbus, And My Sources Say they aren't finished.(WGR 550) - The Buffalo Sabres have sent goaltender Martin Biron to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for a second-round pick, and sent a fifth-round pick to Columbus for netminder Ty Conklin.
Biron was 12-4-1 for Buffalo in 2006-07, posting a 3.04 goals against average. His hit to the salary cap is $2.2 million, as opposed to Conklin's, whose hit is $525,000.
Conklin was 2-3-2 with a 3.23 goals against average this season, but played for the Western Conference champion Edmonton Oilers in 2005-06. For his career, Conklin is 29-22-4-3, with a 2.60 goals against average and .901 save percentage.
