I don't get it.... Why would Florida trade Bouwmeester and Jokinen when both are signed for more than this year and are 27 and 22? makes no sense unless they've just quit.Originally Posted by Mikey82
Jokinen makes over 5 mill a year as well.
I am very scared of Pittsburgh right now
With the fact that Crosby is the NHL's little baby, what a lovely story that would make if they win the Cup this year.

I agree. What Pittsburgh is doing is the same kind of thing I want to see.Originally Posted by JD SabreFan

how are you gonna get 5 top 3 draft picks in the next 5 years?Originally Posted by Mikey82

I'm talking about the trades.....Originally Posted by Canadian'eh!
which ones? they never really made any trades....Originally Posted by Mikey82
edit: unless you mean adding a veteran guy like roberts and muscle like laraque.... but you guys def don't need the enforcer
I've been scared of Pittsburgh since the minute they got Crosby
Malkin and Staal for me
Crosby is the motor that makes the Pens go... he sets up everyone else. That being said... if crosby is Gretzky, Malkin is Lemieux... the size and ability... it's unbelievable....Originally Posted by camelcowboy
Staal is better than i though though.
Pittsburgh doesn't scare me. Not this year anyways.
This is from the Sabres blogger at hockeybuzz.com ... sounds like pure speculation, but I'll post it:
Two teams to focus on:
Colorado and Florida have been scouting Buffalo for months...
John Michael Liles and Milan Hejduk look very tasty right now.
Liles and Ryan Miller are fellow Spartans and they are very close off the ice.
Don't rule out Joe Sakic. He may be leaving Colorado for a contender as well. Colorado management will honour his request if he's adamant. Drury and Sakic know one another well.

Speaking of Sakic, there's a News article today that mentions an unspoken bond between him and Lindy because Sakic was a teammate of Lindy's brother who was killed in a bus accident. Sakic was on the bus.
A Sakic trade is something I think I'd only see in NHL 07 so I'm not taking that to seriously. But if they got someone like Hejduk I'd be beyond happy. I'm willing to bet that if someone like Hejduk came to Buffalo that Drury would be staying as well.
again... where's the cap room for Joe comiong from?Originally Posted by Philagape
Like I said, we can be about $5 million under the cap right now, depending on Connolly's status. Sakic will be a UFA, the Avs are pretty much out of the playoff race. Speaking of the Avs, they picked up Ray Bourque for a Cup, and that was equally unthinkable at the time.Originally Posted by Canadian'eh!
