(WGR 550) - The Buffalo Sabres have sent goaltender Martin Biron to the Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for an undisclosed pick, and sent a fifth-round pick to the Columbus Blue Jackets for netminder Ty Conklin.
Biron was 12-4-1 for Buffalo in 2006-07, posting a 3.04 goals against average. His hit to the salary cap is $2.2 million, as opposed to Conklin's, whose hit is $525,000.
Conklin was 2-3-2 with a 3.23 goals against average this season, but played for the Western Conference champion Edmonton Oilers in 2005-06. For his career, Conklin is 29-22-4-3, with a 2.60 goals against average and .901 save percentage.
The move frees up $1.675 million.
