    Punter Williams signs with Seahawks

    KIRKLAND, Wash. (March 12, 2003 7:26 p.m. EST) - Less than a week after losing veteran Jeff Feagles to free agency, the Seattle Seahawks signed punter Rodney Williams to a multiyear contract Wednesday.

    Williams, who was released by the New York Giants a week before last year's season opener, won the job after four candidates tried out at Seahawks headquarters. He beat out Jason Baker, Chad Stanley and Matt Turk.

    "I think I did pretty well," Williams said. "I think I have a lot of room for improvement, but I believe I did enough."
