AS if the Pats needed more help

Even after being stripped of their own first round pick once they officially make the playoffs; the Pats still own SF's first round pick next year after trading their 28th overall this pat april so the 49ers could take Joe Staley.

At this rate, at 2-6 SF is going to finish near the bottom of the league. Their is a strong possibility New England is going to get a top 5 pick in next year's draft to.

You gotta be ****ing kidding me. The best team in the league, maybe ever.. Is going to get a top 5 pick?

They should be excluded completely from the first round as punishment, regardless of whose picks they have and how many they own.

They should take a draft off, so that teams can catch up...

Don't the Pats suck with draft picks?

The other part of that trade will end up being the best part. They received SF's 2008 1st along with 4th in 2007 (#110) for their 1st in 2007 (used on Joe Staley).

The 4th they received from the 49ers was the pick they traded to Oakland for Randy Moss.

I heard a stat on WGR saying something like the Pats have the lowest retention rate of draftees from the last 5 years in the division.

    2000 - Tom Brady
    2001 - Richard Seymour
    Matt Light
    2002 - Deion Branch
    2003 - Asante Samuel
    2004 - Vince Wilfork
    Ben Watson

Only since 2005 have they really been bad. These players, except Branch who they don't have anymore, have been key players on the team. I wouldn't say that is too bad...

While you can criticize Maroney, how has been nagged by injuries and dances too much at times, and Meriweather, although it seems a little early to write him off, how can you say Logan Mankins (2005) was a bad pick?

Mankins is already considered one of the best all-around OG in the NFL and is probably the Pats best OL.

He is a beast, I would still take Neal over him though.
