    Cards finally cut starting center Gruttadauria

    More than a month after he was informed by team officials that he would not be back in 2003, center Mike Gruttadauria was finally released on Wednesday by the Arizona Cardinals, following three seasons with the club, ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reported.

    When the Cards signed Gruttadauria away from the Super Bowl champion St. Louis Rams after the 1999 season, he was supposed to be the centerpiece of a young and improving line. Three years later, with Gruttadauria having battled injuries in every season with the team, a guy the team once viewed as the critical cog is gone.

    Gruttadauria actually underwent a so-called "exit physical" in early March. He has been prepared for his release ever since.
