All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
Wes Welker is currently leading the NFL in receptions with 109, with a 4 reception lead over Andre Johnson. No NFL WR has more receptions than Welker in the last 2 seasons and he has a good shot at leading the NFL in that category for the second straight season, despite playing with a different QB this year. He leads the NFL in Yards-after-Catch. He just made his first Pro Bowl.
Since the Patriots signed Welker, he has 221 catches for 2,314 Yds (10.5 YPR) and 11 TDs. In that same time period, no Miami player has had even 60 receptions or 800 yards in a season.
I think we can put to bed the notion that Welker is "just a slot receiver" or that the trade wasn't completely lopsided. Say what you want about Sampson Satele, but he is no Wes Welker.
Welker is ridiculous. He just keeps producing no matter what. I personally can't stand the guy, but only because Buffalo is one of the many teams he dominates.

Samson Satele, and you're 100% right. I can't blame the Dolphins for not wanting to put up that money for Welker, and hindsight is 20/20, but it was a great pickup by the Patriots. Chad Pennington would love to have Welker right now.

and who gives a ****. He would not have had those numbers for his prior team and they got a 2nd and a 7th for him both of who are on the roster and one is the starting center
I guess we can put this argument to bed.
In two seasons with NE, Welker has 223, catches for 2,340 Yds and 11 Tds. One of those years, he had a backup QB throwing to him.
Miami just spent signed Jake Grove for 5 Yrs/$30M, $14M guaranteed to replace Satele, who was shipped to Oakland in a trade. The other pick was Abraham Wright, who was waived last year.

You can't put it to bed until the draft pick received for Satele is also a bust. I mean, what if they draft a WR with the pick, and he goes on to 2500 yards and 230 catches for 12 tds in his first 2 years? Then what, huh, huh.
