I don't know much about this guy, but I do know that Steve Bernier and a 1st round pick for Campbell is MUCH better than what we got for our 2 big free agents last year!
That fact that he is a RFA in June is ok, will resign him and who knows maybe part of the deal was a new contact as he comes to the Sabres!

I do not know the collective bargaining agreement but since he has not been in the league that long he will be a restricted free agent. I do not know a lot about him but if he has grit we could use him on offense. Maybe like Gaustad but a little younger and higher upside to scoring. Sounds like someone the Sabres could use.
Yeah after calming down, it does sound like the type of player that we have been missing for a while. It might turn out to be a steal. Because we also got a 1st rounder too. But I'm not sure yet. I'm still a little surprised that they didn't get more.

Frankly, it's more than I expected. Bernier's still young, shouldn't be expensive to re-sign, but judging by message boards, SJ fans don't think much of him. All depends on the pick.
Key words hear "message boards" they seem to have the same type of "experts" over there as we have here! Let's see how it shakes out.
I trust Regier when it comes to trades. He does a great job...(Barnaby for Barnes, Gratton for Briere). Its signing people to a long term contract before the value of that player skyrockets has been his problem.
The guys on TSN seem to think it is a good deal for Buffalo and Bernier will do good it Ruff's system.
And Philly message boards think Briere sucks.
You mean signing Vanek to a $50 million contract to save face with the fans is a problem?

He's sure nothing special in their system, which is irrelevant to how he did here
