I dont know why you are refusing to look at his numbers,,,, for the amount of games he played and stayed in his numbers are extremely good... better than any other WR that was on the market this year.

He had good games against horrible defenses.
The 49ers thought so highly of him that they didn't even put Clements on him.
The Skins had their 4th string WR covering him the whole game.
The only time he had to play a real team, the Packers, he didn't do crap.
You should really go back and watch some of his games, he's not that impressive. I've got everyone he played this year on DVD if you'd like me to mail them to you.
Saying that he's better than any WR on the market isn't saying much this year. I'd much rather take my chances on a draft pick if I have to choose between that and him. IF he's willing to be paid what he's worth (just about league minimum) then hell yeah bring him in. But there's no need to overpay for a mediocre player.

The more I think about it the more I think he may have just committed career suicide. If he was going to accept a one year deal he would have been better off going to a team like Buffalo where he'd be a hands down starter. In SF he'll be lucky to crack the starting lineup.
Also, at this point I'd say that it's Edwards > Smith.

Looks like he will be the #3 receiver in SF... Darrell Jackson and Bruce will probably start.
Plus SFs offense is worse than ours and declining.... No more Larry Allen and Justin Smiley... LT is brand new coming over from the RT spot... could work but you never know... Who is QB? Alex Smith, Shaun Hill, Someone else? Defense is not good either....
