I'm kinda on the fence about that. I'm not sure it matters as much as the stipulations about voting. For example, it could help promote donations if only donors can vote.
If you're a donor, you really care about the site, and want to help it succeed. I'm sure there's those who care but can't afford it, but it could help promote donations. I'm sure there are those who have donated in the past that post regularly, but can't afford to, that some of us could help out, too.
    Just some ideas.
I didn't come here to fight, I hate fighting. Life is way too short to spend it on fighting! Go fight with yourself, one of you will eventually win!

It wasn't a knock on you. It was more towards the people that voted for both people that never post at all. Those people really shouldn't get a say in the situation.

I like mybills idea. Donors only.

Firstly regular basis is probably open to interpretation, secondly I know a handful of zoners who read that forum everyday but hardly ever post. And they are active members at other areas of the site.

I dont know that having a staff member on your team makes much difference as every team had one. Maybe not presidents/vp's, but certainly zone staffers should be allowed to participate as team staffers.
Especially not an administrator. Too close to the controls, IMO.

I disagree about "donor" only voters allowed.

Why? What's your reason(s) not to...
is it wrong to raise money for the site?

Well, it is exclusionary and that is what we want to avoid. I think the registration process was a good idea. Maybe next year we could actually have two major parties and have primaries for each.

I also think not having admins and mods running the campaign is a good idea as well.

Re: A nice guideline for next year's voters.

If the voters donate, they're not excluded.
And if "exclusion" is what we're trying to avoid, why do people want to exclude admins and mods?
Excluding them doesn't help the site, but donations do.

People aren't going to donate just so they can vote.

Staff are here for the support of the membership, not their own personal gain. Comes with the territory. The greater number of awards, prizes, accolades you bestow upon the regular members, the more likely they are to stick around, and maybe even donate. The greater number that go to the staff, the more likely a regular member is going to go elsewhere for their entertainment.

It's pretty common, almost universal actually, in the real world that any organization or business that sponsors a contest excludes their employees and their family members from winning and/or participating. Why do you think that is?

If the zone took Visa / MC, I'd suspect more people would be apt to donate. I knew about Paypal and the bank draining potential and it's not appealing to me.

So, if your going to deny people that haven't paid you should equally expand the ability to pay easier. You can use Visa / MC at MCdonald's for gods sake, why not here?

Skooby, if you want to pay the processing fees for us (permanently), we'll take your credit card donation.

Otherwise you can use the PayPal option.

    Thanks for your support.
