Agent: Zach Thomas spurned Patriots because of loyalty to Dolphins

"Dallas was a very good fit for him because, like New England, they're a winning team," Drew Rosenhaus told 560-AM (WQAM) Tuesday morning. "They're in his home state, close to his family, and he grew up as a Cowboys fan. But also being a loyal Dolphin, and he'll always be a Dolphin, it would have been very difficult for him [to play for New England]. He did not want to alienate his fans, and really, I don't think, he wanted to compete against the Dolphins."

With salary cap etc, it's tough for a team to stay loyal to a player for their entire career, but at least a player can stay loyal to their fans. As a Dolphins fan, that was an awesome article to read. When he signed w/ Dallas, and especially after reading this article I will be a fan of the Cowboys as long as Thomas is playing for them.

Yeah, but in the end, he still retired as a Buffalo Bill. His stint down in Miami showed that the organization was right about him.
