    Tornado Warning!

Yes we are now officially into the middle of the classic tornado season, no surprise there, although it seemed things started early this year, and so far we've set a record in terms of number of twisters.

But here's your new endtimesy info: we are going to start to see destructive tornadoes in areas that are not normally known to be prone to them.

Hold onto your hats, they are about to fly!

I see Colorado got nailed today.

WINDSOR, Colo. - At least one person was killed, buildings were destroyed and vehicles overturned by a large storm system that spawned at least two twisters north of Denver on Thursday.

Tonight, Southern California gets slammed. Notice the use of the word 'rare' in the headline:

I didn't say tornadoes would strike at an unusual time of year. I said they would strike in unusual places. (not normally prone to tornadoes)

Yes this year's tornado season has been Business As Usual. Along with the gas prices. Go back to sleep!

    Re: Tornado Warning!

Here's today's AP story on the subject:

Another week, another rumbling train of tornadoes that obliterates entire city blocks, smashing homes to their foundations and killing people even as they cower in their basements.

With the year not even half done, 2008 is already the deadliest tornado year in the United States since 1998 and seems on track to break the U.S. record for the number of twisters in a year, according to the National Weather Service. Also, this year's storms seem to be unusually powerful. But like someone who has lost all his worldly possessions to a whirlwind, meteorologists cannot explain exactly why this is happening.

    Re: Tornado Warning!

We had a few tornadoes in the DC metropolitan area this year. And a few years ago one hit and killed people in La Plata, Maryland.

On Sunday evening, April 28, 2002, a violent F4 tornado carved a 64-mile path across southeast Maryland. The La Plata, Maryland, tornado was part of a large severe weather outbreak that began in the mid-Mississippi Valley early on that day and spread across portions of the Ohio Valley and Mid-Atlantic States. In Maryland, 3 deaths and 122 injuries were a direct result of the storm. Property damage exceeded $100 million.

But for the grace of God go I
    I must've been born a lucky guy
Heaven only knows how I've been blessed
With the gift of you love
And I look around and all I see
    Is your happiness embracing me
    Oh Lord I'd be lost
But for the grace of God

Far enough not to be hit, but close enough to get scared.

More to come on the Tornado Front. We haven't even seen the worst of it in a record-breaking year. Man the root cellars! Batten down the drain pipes! Pray it doesn't hit your area.

    Tornadoes in Unusual Areas:

CHICAGO (AP) - The National Weather Service says a large tornado is moving across Chicago's southern suburbs.
The twister was on the ground Saturday evening between the towns of Richton Park and University Park and was moving northeast.

Will County Sheriff's Department spokesman Pat Barry says the slow- moving tornado damaged several homes in the Wilmington area and toppled trees and power lines.
