ALmost made the 76 yarder... NOT!
WTF was Oakland thinking trying a 76 yard FG?
I guess Kiffen wanted to get in the record books before he gets his ass canned.
Wait, what? They tried a 76 yarder??
That would be like 50 fantasy points!Originally Posted by Mr. Miyagi

It was at the end of the half. Definitely not as crazy as you'd think at first glance. It's still really funny though.
Holy crap. I guess when you're on the hot seat, practically BEGGING to get fired so you can collect your severence in millions, and the owner just won't fire you for the same reason, you'd have the free reign to do whatever the hell you want.
Kiffin sure is a good sport about this. He's got nothing to lose! Keep pushing the envelope!
1. Onside kick at game kickoff
2. FGs at any 1st down past the 50, then fake it every other time.
3. Triple reverse
4. Throw it deep towards your own goal, then Hail Mary it.
5. Lateral every pass caught
The possibilities are endless!
With all respect, last year I recall him attempting something over 60, and he actually hit halfway up the upright. I'll try to find a link, but I do recall seeing it. I actually remember Neil Rackers lining up to attempt a 70 yarder one time, he got a running start, a la Happy Gilmore, in warm ups, but something happened and he never attempted it. Me and my buddies were so pissed cuz we wanted to see him try.

Found it!
But one very noteworthy thing happened: Raiders coach Lane Kiffin sent in Sebastian Janikowski to try a 64-yard field goal. And although Janikowski missed, he didn't miss short. He hit the upright, and in fact the ball bounced off the middle of the upright. There is no doubt in my mind that the kick had enough distance to clear the crossbar from 70 yards.
the talking heads were saying that the kicker for Denver has hit a 70 yarder (in practice).
why not try, if somehow he made it, that would be kick ass.
if you search on youtube (i would find and provide link myself but cant at work) for "janikowski 64" you will see him doink it off the upright from 64 yards away...pretty impressive.
If I'm an NFL GM, I'm searching Europe for a strong footed "soccer" ball kicker and teach him to kick a real "football".
