Sources: Owens resents Romo's relationship with Witten

According to multiple sources within the Dallas Cowboys, there is an emerging internal conflict involving three of the team's highest-profile stars.

As the preseason Super Bowl favorites struggle in the final month of the season to simply make the playoffs, wide receiver Terrell Owens has expressed resentment toward Tony Romo, apparently jealous of the quarterback's relationship with tight end Jason Witten.


Owens feels that Romo and Witten -- close friends and road roommates who came to Dallas in the same offseason -- hold private meetings in which they create plays the two will use in upcoming games without including Owens in the conversations, according to a source who speaks regularly with Owens' teammates. Owens believes these discussions have worked to his detriment as Romo seeks to deliver the ball to Witten regardless of whether Owens is open.


Owens declined to discuss the situation on Thursday outside the Cowboys' locker room. As he walked toward the players' lounge at Valley Ranch, ESPN asked Owens if he would answer questions and he said, "Nope.''


Linebacker Bradie James acknowledged to ESPN that his status as one of the team captains has caused him to play a peacemaker role between Romo and Owens.


"Whenever the fire gets blazing, I know,'' James said. "Sometimes, I don't want to step on anybody's toes, but we all talk.

It's amazing how clueless the rest of America is when it comes to the Cowboys. T.O. has already all but said that this story is complete BS and that there are no issues with him, Romo, or Witten. And why would there be? He's Romo's number one target by a long shot since Romo's return, try again ESPN:

Not at all, he does just want to win and when he gets the ball we generally do win. But I've grown tired of the crap from him every week, every day, every hour (seemingly). There are just too many super stars on offense right now, he's the least important for the future and will likely be gone after this season.

There really isn't anything to it. Crayton, Owens, and Williams all took part in a meeting with Garrett (which they do every week by the way) and expressed concerns, some of which are valid. There were several plays last week where one of the three was open and Romo didn't find that person because he didn't go through all of his reads. They have a valid argument to a point, and it's something that Romo is going to have to work on. I think a lot of people forget that Romo is still very much so growing as a QB and is still adjusting to Garrett's system. People expect the most out of him (and rightfully so playing for America's Team), but it's not something that every QB picks up from day one. Having said that, there's no other QB I'd rather have playing for the Cowboys right now, he has the "it" factor, now he just needs to put it all together.
