Why is this team SO BAD at the dump and chase? Even at full strength they suck at it, and so many teams use a trap or some variation of it so it's almost a necessity to play the dump and chase to win these days.
It's simple...this team is VERY soft. They don't like the banging type of game...they're more into finesse. Hecht is plain awful and one of the softest players on the puck on the entire team. Why people love this guy is beyond me.Originally Posted by OpIv37

He is what he is - a solid, but not great, two way player. 15-20 goals a year. Very good penalty killer.

I'd move Pominville up and put a defenseman on the backend. Poms has been terrible on the point and I don't understand why they continue to put him back there...he just doesn't look comfortable back there.
No, not really. He isn't that good. People think he is a good two-way player because that's what they feed us. He was the reason that first goal was scored. HIS defensive play leaves a lot to be desired.
He is the top forward on the PK. It is top 3 in the NHL. Not sure how he can't get some credit for that .His defensive play is generally very good.
The reason the first goal was scored was Sekera giving up the puck and the team as a whole not clearing it, not just Hecht.

Rivet was out. You hate Paestch. Sekera and Spacek are already was back there. Lydman and Tallinder are not point guys.

I would also say that overall their PP has been more average than bad (18th in the NHL, right around the league average)
Hecht is very soft, plays the game soft he has size but is very inconsistent with his play and streaky, Miller is defintly shaky as well

Funk is hurt and is hurt more often than these players you claim are often injured (except Connolly there really are not many)
Butler is not close to being NHL ready. Zagrapan is looking like a bust. Mancari was up here and is a OK player, but really does not skate well enough to be in the NHL except on a 3rd or 4th line. Kennedy is not ready either, until he plays more at center to learn the position.
I don't know how to put this any nicer, but you're flat out wrong. They even did a piece on it during the intermission. Hecht had a chance to get the puck out and he was his usually soft self when he had the puck and tried a lazy backhand to get it out. I don't care what the PK is ranked, I know what I see when it comes to a player and he is soft on the puck. He doesn't fight hard for pucks and if he is challenged, he melts. This is not the first time I've said this about him and it probably won't be the last. He is VERY overrated.
I'd put Lydman back there, he's no less a PP point man then Teppo and he skates MUCH better then Teppo.
