BC's Jeff Jagz will be fired if he interviews for NYJ job.

This bums me out. I like Jagz as a coach and think he has exceeded expectations already... I dont blame the AD for the threat, BC needs a stable coach not one who is looking to fly the coop every season.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
    It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

I understand the threat but I dont like it nor do I like the precedent it sets. This could become a legal battle BC doesnt want or need.

BC wants stability, if its the Jets now it could be someone else next year they dont want to have to sit and think about a new coach every year

Agreed. I don't see what's so bad about it. What message does it sent to the players on BC?

It says they're a stepping stone.

But they are and its a two way street. The players use the coaching staff and program as a stepping stone to the NFL but the coaches can't do the same?

Its two completely different things. College football benefits greatly from being the NFL's only feeder program, and the obvious players only have 4 years of eligibility.

I guess. But i never thought a school could tell a kid who wants to transfer what schools he could transfer and could not transfer to.

This is true but to say you only want coaches who have no intention of ever getting to the next level is a little ignorant of a statement. All the guy did was interview for a job, that does not guarantee he'd accept it. One would think if he did interview and either didnt get the offer or choose to reject it, it would be a great recruiting tool to say that the BC's coach is wanted in the NFL so he can mold your kid into a wanted NFL commodity too. I think the firing was wrong, and will bite BC in the ass.

They're hiring Spaz, who got turned away from the job last year. He is the heart of BC and has been since taking over for Obrien back in the bowl game of 06.

BC is looking at it as if its not the Jets its another team, and if its not this year its next year. They want more stability than that, Jagz didnt even get to coach his recruits really... that's a slap in the face of BC. I back the decision 101%

    Worked out well for everyone.

Spaz got the gig as he should've the AD did the right thing, letting Jagz walk and Jagz got a job, which he certainly deserves. No ill will towards the guy, he just didnt fit into BC's future plans.

Basically, BC didnt lose any recruits either in the transition which is a good thing. The only question left is can Spaz build on Jagz success and can Jagz be as successful in the NFL.

It's kind of hard to lose recruits when you don't have any worth a crap to begin with. BC is in the bottom in recruiting on the Atlantic side. Jagz will be a very hard coach to follow up.
