and who does buffalo have again?
In my day we did not have self-esteem... we had self-respect, and no more of it then we earned.

It will be interesting to see what the Patriots do to replace McDaniels.
There has been a lot of talk of Scott Pioli leaving, and he may this week. However, losing Pioli may not be as big a loss as losing McDaniels. That isn't to take anything away from Scott Pioli, who has done a great job for the Pats. However, the Pats have been grooming Nick Cesario to replace Pioli for several years, so they have an in-house replacement if he were to leave. That eases the blow a little, because they have a guy who has been training to do the job and knows how they do business.
But... how is the replacement for McDaniels? I'm not sure they have one on staff. Dante Scarnecchia, who is Asst HC and OL coach, is one of the most respected people on the staff and a great coach. However, he hasn't been interested in being a coordinator before and likes his role. Outside of him, I'm not sure they have someone who they have prepared to take McDaniel's place.
Do they instead hire from outside the organization? This is something they haven't done a lot of, usually they bring guys along to take the place of guys who are leaving. With McDaniels, I don't know if that have that in-house candidate. That may mean they bring someone in from outside, a surprise candidate.
a head coach whose lasted the first 3 years somehow and is now starting to see the buffalo fanbase at its best throwing the same complaints and wishy-washy "solutions to the team" out there until the next season startsm and then who continuously rips on anyone who has a differing opinion. thats who.Originally Posted by keithtr
here is to hoping that the whole NE staff gets hired by others.
For all the education and practice each of us undergoes, the achievment of mastery is ultimately the outcome of a personal quest for understanding.
I was hoping you would comment, because I had no clue who might replace McDaniels. I don't know much about the Patriots coaching staff, but the only "brand-name" Patriots assistant coach who came from outside is Dom Capers.Originally Posted by NE39
Anyways, one name popped into my head: Jim Fassel. I know Fassel was interested in the Raiders head-coach position though. What are the chances of that?
What is the point anyway?Originally Posted by Ebenezer
Personnel like Weiss, Crennell, Mangini, McDaniels, and Pioli can keep going away from Boston and chocking with other teams but the central piece that keeps the Pats functioning together is still there.
They put Mcdaniels in place to implement a puppet regime.
idk, you might be right, but didnt shanny have a ton of control and say in what happened with the organization? from what I've heard, the Broncs owner is a pretty good dude who legitimately wants to win, and got one of the best young minds out there. we'll see what happens.Originally Posted by lukabrossi

It was under Josh McDaniels that Brady had his best passing season with hardly any talent. It was under him that the pats almost went 16-0. It was under him that Cassel is now a better qb than we have with barely any experience. I'm glad he's gone from the pats. I wish we had him instead of Dick and Turk.Originally Posted by lukabrossi
Hardly any talent? The guy did a great job, but let's not kid, that 2007-2008 NE offense was stacked.Originally Posted by justasportsfan

Having the other team's defensive signals doesn't hurt either.Originally Posted by justasportsfan
