PIOLI HIRED BY CHIEFS

New England Patriots vice president of player personnel Scott Pioli has been hired as the Kansas City Chiefs’ new general manager to replace Carl Peterson, according to reports from ESPN’s Michael Smith and NFL Network’s Adam Schefter.
Smith reports that Pioli’s arrival will definitely spell the departure of Chiefs coach Herm Edwards and could lead to New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo as Edwards’ replacement.
The National Football Post has also reported that Pioli has accepted Chiefs owner Clark Hunt’s offer.
Smith also reported for ESPN that Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio will take Pioli’s old job in New England.

I wish Scott Pioli well, he did a great job for the Pats.

Losing Pioli isn't as big a blow as it might have been in the past, because the Pats have been grooming Nick Caserio to take his job the last few years. He is ready to take over.

I don't see any replacement for Josh McDaniels on the staff, though. It will be interesting to see what they do, because he leaves a big shadow. I'm sure they have a plan, however...

you're dead on, IMO. Edwards seems like Dick Jauron to me, probably a real good guy at interacting with the players, but seems like more of an HR rep than a damn football coach.

I wonder if Pioli is still firm in his "Kirk Ferentz is my HC choice" position.

I'd love to see what Ferentz can do at the NFL level.

I'm not sold on Spag as a HC.. I think he is a fantastic DC, obviously one of the best in the NFL. I truly think that Spag loves being a DC, it will be interesting to see what he does as a HC.
