Maybe the Bills just caught a break.

Im sorry thats not bad news. They are going to end up trading him for a #1 and maybe more. Which ends up helping them
Thats just not going to happen.Originally Posted by BEASTMODE

Thats nuts... theres just no way.
Sorry, they got Tom Brady ---- even at 75% he is an A+ QB.
I hate him cause he plays for the Patriots but I would love him if he played for Buffalo.. 1st ballot HOF, hands down.. Patriots are just fine.
If no one trades for Cassel. The pats will have Brady at 8+ mil next year, and Cassel at 14.5 mil. I bet thaT Will go over well in the locker room that the back up is making 6 mil more then the starter.
We are in 5th place

I bet they are trying to be sleezy somehow.Originally Posted by chubluv

Its a classic Pats sleeze ball maneuver.
two firsts actually and that's a factOriginally Posted by EdwardsEra
If I had a dollar for everytime some maroon predicted the demise of the Patriots I'd be closing in on Bill Gates.
The only fact is that it wont happen.Originally Posted by LtFinFan66

Cassel is worth about a 3rd and thats being generous IMO.
Id bet they get at least one 1st pick if they trade him
All things considered, Cassel had an amazing season, and there will be a lot of teams interested in him. I remember people referring to JP Losman as a "Virtual Rookie" during his third season here due to a lack of playing time. By those same standards Cassel was a virtual "College Freshman" this past season.
In his limited playing time during the 2007 season and this past preseason, he was awful. In his first few games this year, he didn't look much better. Once he was forced into real action, he quickly shook the rust off and made some huge strides. Sure he played with a great offense, but his week to week improvements were still off the charts.
He has all the physical tools needed in a QB. He's bigger, faster, and stronger than Tom Brady. Not saying that makes him better overall QB by any means, but he certainly has the physical tools of a first round draft choice. He also showed this past year that he can manage a game. If he can improve at a clip anything close to what he did this past year, he will be an elite QB for years to come.
At the very least, he has proven he can run a great offense at a very high level. He certainly won't be a liability wherever he ends up, which is more than can be said about most first round QBs these days.
I'm a long time lurker
maybe this is further indication that Brady's injury is very serious and possibly his career is in jeopardy and the pats are making sure they have some consistency at QB at least.
honestly, this guarantees him the salary of a top 5 nfl QB. He's not worth that and no one is going to give him that contract to trade for him. The PATS did not do this with a trade in mind.
if you read the other posts you'd know that you get 2 firsts for trading a player who is franchised.Originally Posted by BEASTMODE

The Pats have his rights. They can trade him for a used jockstrap if they like.
Just because he has been franchised doesnt mean they only way he gets traded is 2 first rounders, its that that is the only way the Pats are forced to trade him.
Nope, I dont even see a 2nd rounder. Its my opinion, but no not even a 2nd rounder... Its pretty much a 3rd at best.Originally Posted by BEASTMODE
we are definitely in a better situation than the pats at the qb position . I laugh at them.

in essence the patriots not matching would be a trade, which is due 2 first rounders for a franchised tagged player.Originally Posted by EdwardsEra
they won't trade him away for nothing, i can tell you that.
someone will pick him up, or they will restructure marcia's contract to make him have more than cassel
