Or would it kill us cap- wise? I am thinking it could free up some money and maybe we could get better bang for the buck elsewhere?

Why do you want to cut Dockery exactly??

Why would we cut Dockery?
get a competant center in here and he will be fine.
2010 is uncapped, thus any player released or traded in 2009 has ALL remaining amortization accelerated onto the 2009 cap. There is no June 1st rule also
Releasing Dockery would result in an extra cap hit
I was wondering why we would trade them him as well......
The Bills have plenty of cap sapce for him anyway....He is a pretty good player too..
GO Gators!!!!!!
GO GATORS!!
We need to get a leader at center and the rest of our OL will fall into place. I really think that we would have a top 5 OL in the NFL with a Matt Birk or an Alex Mack in the middle.
What? He sucks. But, he is the best G we got. I really hope the center improves this whole unit, especially over priced Dock.
Funny how after a couple weeks of off season, people forgot he isn't that good.

Someone like Jason Whittle or Duke Preston is Dockery's replacement. Do you really think we'd be better off?

Sorry but Dockery bit serious ass this year. He was terrible. A lot of people blame Peters for that safety against Miami but it was really Dock's fault. They had him double teamed, so Peters immediately jumped to the outside knowing he had Dock to help on the inside, but Dock just stood there and watched him run by.
And that's just one of many examples. The guy seriously sucked this year. Cutting him for one bad year with no clear-cut replacement sounds a bit extreme, but he did suck.

Yes lets already make a shaky line worse
got a feeling that it would kill us to cut him. i am pretty sure we had to give him a little extra to get him to sign with us. if we can bring a center in here i am sure he will look better and if peters is here through the whole off season workouts and mini camps the whole line will be a lot more in sink. not having peters here all off season and not having a real NFL caliber center hurt doc this past season.Originally Posted by Lawesome97
why on earth would we cut Doc??and we need the cap space why??so we can give it to some chump like kelsay or denny or some other role player who deserves it in 2010 when it matters not.Doc is a decent G and the bill should and will keep him so forget about clearing cap space for a big time FA this is the bills were talking about here we don't sign big names and if we did there washed up anyways
I have been working on the pages and looked up the numbers. Dockery has a $1.75 million roster bonus. Most likely it's due within a few days of the start of the 2009 League Year (i.e. Feb 27). He has a $2.75 million salary and remaining amortization of $5.4 million. To determine cap savings/cap charge
cap hit - remaining amortization = cap savings/cap charge
$5,857,280 - $5.4 million = cap savings of $357,280
Who the hell is Clump anyway, and why do we need to ask him for permission?

Hmm, funny that I beat the Buffalo News to the punch on this idea. I wonder if they got killed for it?
I tend to take the Fred Smerlas approach with Dockery. Our line sucked with him, it can suck without him.
