Surpisingly, we have very few Eskimos around Anchorage. There are 4-5 different kinds of natives that live in Alaska (Tlingit, Aleut, Athabascan, Eskimo and one or two others.) All are just classified as "natives" with the dominant number being Aleut and Athabascan.
Eskimos are the natives from way up north and they tend to stay in that part of the state. That's not to say we don't have any where I live, just that they are not a very large part of the local population in my area.
OK, I'm confused. So there are actually Eskimos and it is not politically incorrect to call them that? I thought Eskimos was removed from the lexicon and we were suppose to use Inuit...

I just stay safe and call them natives. That gives me the best chance of not mistakenly insulting them
They created two new self-governing Inuu territories up here in Canada, Nunavit and Allavit.
The folks from Nunavit are jealous of the folks from Allavit.
I thought that Inuets were different than Eskimos, but who knows. I get confused with all the different groups
