All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
Please use this thread to report any issues you come across

I hope so since Trent tends to see checkdown better.
"Capt. Checkdown" is...
T-18th in passes over 20 yards.
11th in yds/Att
18th in AY/Att (Air Yards, which is better than Farve, McNabb, Thigpen, Flacco, Campbell, and Cassell to name a few)

Stats don't show the whole story. He's a checkdown guy.

Neither do fans. We had a bum line who could barely hold the pocket and our WR's couldn't get open. What is a QB supposed to do if he goes through his reads and nobody's open or when pressure breaks down the pocket?
Trent isn't blameless since he did miss a few reads here and there which is obviously expected of a first year starter but he still got through all his reads (which is important for a young QB). He still didn't check down as much as everybody says.

I wasn't blaming anyone but
he wouldn't be called Capt Checkdown (I didn't call him that) if there wasn't some truth to it.
There were times when Lee was also open and he didn't find Lee opting to go with his checkdown Reed and Lynch. Why do you think he struggled when Reed was injured. His security blanket was checking down to Reed. I'm not saying it's all his fault but he checks down a lot.
Since you like stats, our rbs last year have caught more balls than any rb tandem in bills recent history.

...and Trent still had more air yards per attempt than most QB's which means they weren't all checkdowns.
Our offense had a WCO feel, short passes to the backs are actual plays especially when the running game is struggling due to poor run blocking. It was also no secret that Turk wanted to get the ball into the hands of ML and FJ as much as possible.

Reed isn't considered a checkdown.
like I said, he wouldn't be called Capt. Checkdown by some peope here for no reason .
Whether you think Reed is a checkdown or not he's still the short yardage security blanket that Trent looks for.
Reed was the only guy that got open, Evans was double covered.
Reed knows how to find holes in zones hence why he was missed.
Um, no. Evans was wide open, alot. But the ball just wasn't getting thrown. After the Browns game he was so discussed he left the lockerroom without a word said to reporters. He had zero passes thrown his way the entire game. I was there, I saw him streaking wide open SEVERAL TIMES, but Edwards just kept dumping it to Lynch. After opening the game with 3 ints, Edwards was literally afraid to throw it.
And, I believe Reed is considered a check down. If your primary (Lee) is "covered", wouldn't your secondary be considered a "checkdown" if he is running a shorter route? Either way, Lynch who caught 3 times more then all the wide recievers combined (in the Browns game), is surely a checkdown.
I think they'll put up big combined numbers, about 150 catches for 2300 yards and 20 TDs, with Lee having more receptions and yards, but TO leading in TDs.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?
