Matt Nichols, QB, Eastern Washington
From WalterFootball.com: Matt Nichols, Eastern Washington
Height: 6-2. Weight: 220.
Projected 40 Time: 4.68.
Projected Round (2010): 7-FA. 7/24/08: Matt Nichols put up prolific numbers at Division 1-AA Eastern Washington as a sophomore (3,744 yards, 34 TDs, 9 INTs), but he didn't play any BCS competition, so we don't really know what he's made of just yet.
Comments:
1/23/09- E-W Shrine- Good build, decent muscularity. Has a quick release, and good mechanics. Nice over the top throwing motion. Throws a decent spiral. Doesn't seem to go through progressions. Seems to have good presence in the pocket, ran for a 1st on one play, threw the dump pass on another with a DE at his feet. Gets happy feet, but seems aware in the pocket and can deliver the throw.
Summary: Matt Nichols is a pocket passer who will get happy feet at times, but has a nice over the top throwing motion, decent mechanics, and a live arm. Matt was very productive throughout his college career, but level of competition should be considered. May struggle in the NFL to grasp the pro-system.
