Colts can end suspense, move tickets by committing to Indy

"We have reached agreement on a new lease and a future stadium, and we'll be here until 2050, or until we win a Super Bowl, whichever comes first." -- Jim Irsay

That's all we need to hear. Or at least words to that effect. Irsay can alter the sentence structure, add his own verbal flourishes, pregnant pauses and rock allusions, but the sentiment must be the same.

Until we hear those words, the Colts go into 2003 as lame ducks.

Until we hear those words, the harsh suspicion will linger that the Colts might be going to Los Angeles.

How can anybody assume the Colts, whom Irsay hasn't committed to Indianapolis beyond this coming season, will remain through the rest of the lease?

How can anybody be inspired to invest in season tickets for a team that may not be here in 2004, or 2006 and beyond?

Indianapolis should ask Baltimore about Colts

Indianapolis Colts fans had better hope there's no truth to that old bromide. Because if Jim Irsay acts anything like his late father, Robert, the Colts will be in Los Angeles as early as 2006.

It's no secret the NFL wants a team back in La La Land, and the Colts might be willing to pull up stakes - again.

The 56,000-seat RCA Dome is the league's smallest venue, and one of its oldest. The Colts want something done about the situation. Negotiations between the club and the city to rectify the situation are going slow and the rumors are growing.

City might need Herbert to help with Colts talks

New Indiana University President Adam W. Herbert helped lure an NFL franchise to Jacksonville, Fla.

Now, the city in northeast Florida has the Jaguars.

Once they came, Herbert helped promote the team's presence and sell tickets.
