The songwriter and director behind 'You Light Up My Life' has been indicted on charges of raping or sexually assaulting women who answered audition ads on Craigslist. Joseph Brooks, who's 71, will be arraigned later Tuesday.

Do any of you use Craigslist? I have never used it and I don't even go on to look for things. And the more I hear about it, the less likely I will ever venture onto it.

I've sold and bought many things on craig's list: video games, concert and sports tickets, an entertainment center, bar stools, a bike carrier for a car, a DVD player, etc.
Keep in mind that millions of people use Craig's List every day. You don't hear about the hundreds of thousands of transactions that go down without a problem every day- only the crimes.
The important thing is to be smart about it. Meet at a neutral public location, do not go into a stranger's house, only deal in cash (regardless if you're buying or selling- checks have your bank account number on them), check everything to ensure that it works and all the necessary parts are included.
Don't blame the medium because some people abuse it and other people are too ignorant to use it safely.
