    My take on Nix

    Its real easy for me.

Nix, A.J. Smith, Butler, and Dwight Adams came from our glory years. Some of them showed they new how to build a football team when they did it in another city (SD).

Nix knows football and knows players and knows what we need. He knows how to draft, and scout, hes been around winning, hes got what we need. I was a big fan when I heard he was coming back because I dont trust Guy or Modrak. They wont be here much longer IMO.

If it goes the way I think it will, I really like this signing.

Its a strong football mind, even better draft mind, a proven guy, and someone who doesn't come with a big ego.

Its not Donahoe. I didnt need a big ego GM who would prevent us from getting a proven HC. I needed a guy who knew how to draft, and how to build a winner.

Its a guy that can work with a big name HC. Its a guy that could get a big name HC. Its a guy that knows both Shotty and Cowher.

If, and I say only if, we land Shotty or Cowher, and my preference is Cowher, this would have been a fantastic move for us.

He's got the experience and creditentials to be a GM. It's Buddy's time to change the franchise now.

It's a good hire. The biggest negative is his age. At 70 years old, you have to wonder how long before he wants to start playing more golf.
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

John Fox, John Fox, John Fox..................... Call me crazy, go ahead, but I want him over Cowher or any other available coach. I really hope Carolina goofs up and lets him go, PLEASE DO IT.

    Re: My take on Nix

After listening to his 1-on-1...I love the move even more! He seems to want exactly what us fans have been clamouring for. Big nasty lineman who aren't afraid to get dirty, big strong linebackers, a QB with a strong arm who can throw in the wind. I think Incognito will stay here now. He also talked about how Indy is on defense, with small, quick linebackers and they get worn out. Sounds like he's indirectly talking about our guys. He said that it's fine in a dome, but it isn't made for Buffalo weather. This to me, means the END of the Tampa Cover 2 defense!

Oh yeah...he also talked a lot about our 18-20 guys that are on IR and said that it's a problem and said that he understands that it's happened a few times here lately. So I guess this means.... John Allaire

    Re: My take on Nix

the biggest thing you'll get with nix is he'll improve your depth immediately and your drafts and UDFA signings will immediately improve IMO

as for this maybin crap i keep seeing, AJ and butler drafted sammy davis in the 1st round in 03 when we could have drafted polomalu ..so busts happen, the draft is a crap shoot sometimes, but when you can get a guy from the GM tree of butler polian and AJ, you damn well do it!

It's also possible they will come to the conclusion the injuries had something to do with Jauron's "no contact ever outside of games" policy.

    Re: My take on Nix

This guy does not sound like a puppet to me.

He basically criticized the current Cover 2 as wrong for Buffalo, said we need to design a team for the elements.

Wants a complete review of our strength and conditioning program and doesn't think all the injuries is a coincidence.

Believes in player development and making sure we have top coaches to develop players at every position.

Guys, I don't like the fact that Buffalo was spurned by Shanahan and Gruden etc. But all I know is that every team this guy is on has great drafts and he shows up last year and we happen to have best draft since 2001. Maybe that was not coincidence either.

I could care less what happens to Modrak but I do hope Guy is replaced.

I don't know about you guys but I would rather have Buddy Nix, football guy hiring our next coach rather than marketing & sales guy Russ Brandon.

I expect Ron Rivera and Brian Schottenheimer to be possibilities now. Interesting that Jim Kelly says he wants a defensive head coach now..does he know something we don't?

Didn't Nix say he was looking for an experienced HC?

He said a guy with experience is going to have an advantage. It could be trumped by a better interview and plan though. I don't read too much into this statement.

He said experience trumps inexperience but didn't rule out coordinators. If he had a choice between retread that he thought was mediocre and coordinator who he thought could be great he would take the coordinator, IMO.

I just think that he will look at them. I have no idea what he will decide.

Ha, ha...and somebody negged me for teasing Mr. Mod...hmmm, wonder who it could be? Probably a certain Mod who doesn't have the balls to sign his negs...go figure!
