Favre, Cedric Benson, Vernon Davis, Matt Schaub all deserved it more than Brady.

What did those guys come back from?
bustville....at least for Benson and Davis. Favre and Schaub were good candidates too, IMO.Originally Posted by RockStar36
How was Favre a good candidate? What did he come back from? He played in all 17 games last season. And don't you dare say retirement.
He had a pretty mediocre season last year, and he's the #2 ranked QB in the league for '09.Originally Posted by RockStar36
I don't think that is the definition of comeback player of the year.
Favre had a bad year. 22 tds, 22 ints to this years 3 tds 7 ints? That isn't a comeback? Comeback of year isn't only for inuries, it is bad seasons.
Vernon Davis... 965 yds 13 tds, never topped 400 yds or 4 tds in his career. He ost his job as a starterlast year too.
Benson, do we need to even go there?
Matt Schaub... 15 tds 10 ints, to 29 tds and 15.
I'm sorry, he did not deserve it. Another example of Brady getting sucked off by media.
The NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award has been given out after every season since 1972 (except for 1985) by Pro Football Weekly. The player named Comeback Player of the Year shows perseverance in overcoming adversity, in the form of not being in the NFL the previous year, a severe injury, or simply poor performance. Beginning in 1992 the Pro Football Writers of America and Pro Football Weekly combined for their awards, including the comeback player of the year, and it continues to this day.Originally Posted by RockStar36

Nobody said Comeback Player of the Year has to be a player coming back off of an injury.Originally Posted by RockStar36

I thought it was the "Come-on-my-Back Player of the Year" from the National Association of Gay Athletes (NAGA)?
It does count. Did you not read the criteria?Originally Posted by LtFinFan66
I don't care about the criteria...He deserves it more than the others you mentioned IMO regardless. And I hate the guy with a passion.....but to say him winning is a joke isn't correct eitherOriginally Posted by BuffaloBlitz83
Vernon Davis had freakin just under 1000 yds and 13 TDs and was one of the best blocking Tightends!!!
I thought Brady had a great year but not a good to deserve the award. Hell how many games did they improve with getting Brady back compared to Cassell? Cassell as Pat 21 tds, 11 ints... Brady 28 tds, 13 ints. 11-5 last year, 10-6 this year.
Brady won because his injury wasn't career ending. Like that's never happened to any other football player.
I didn't come here to fight, I hate fighting. Life is way too short to spend it on fighting! Go fight with yourself, one of you will eventually win!
Bingo. The Pats had a worse record with Brady back than when Cassell started last year. I think we can all see that Brady is NOT the same elite QB after this injury. I mean come on, two relatively close games against Buffalo? Not the same team, not the same QB.Originally Posted by BuffaloBlitz83

The only one in the conversation would be Cedric Benson.
Davis is a young guy who is still developing, so saying he is a comeback player is a joke. Schaud had an avg year two years ago in Houston, you have to be really ****ty and then be your teams true leader to be in this race. Andre Johnson means far more to Houston than Matt Schaub.
COMING SOON...

That alone rules out Benson, Davis and Schaub.
Mere improvement is not coming back from something. They've never been at the level they reached.
Favre? Giving an award to someone because he didn't have a great year last year is stupid. Numbers fluctuate from year to year all the time.
Also consider what a player is coming back from. What's a greater adversity: a down year statistically, or a severe injury?
It can only be Brady. Anyone else is ridiculous, embarrassing Bills homerism/Brady hate.
