All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
Please use this thread to report any issues you come across

Going into tonight, he had 2 points in the last 9 games.
you're living in the moment and not taking his full season into account. BTW, unless he gets 12 points in the next 8 games, he's BEHIND where he was last year. Considering he's only averaged .42 points per game, it's highly unlikely that he's going to triple that and average 1.5 ppg over the last 8. He's supposed to be the new leader, but he's behind where he was last year- instead of taking charge, he's regressing.
I was at the game tonight. Other than finally living up to his big contract and earning his money in the third period he was absolutely pitiful just like the rest of the team for two thirds of the game so I wouldn't let your nipples get too hard over him.
Why do people have to say things like this? The guy has been a big disapointment this year. All money aside and what he should be doing, he has to be better than he was this season. I don't think it is wrong for people to want big things from Vanek.

It isn't people, it is LW, did you expect anything else?
He's a streaky scorer who will give you games like last night. But not every night.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?
Ovechkins worse night is about par to how we usually see Vanek. Vanek is a dull bulb so far that flickers bright sometimes but then fades out all over again.
He is very Satan-ish.. shows up for a quarter of the season, while disappearing for the rest
“You hold a players only meeting and get each guy to stand up and say what he can bring to the table... and if he doesn't, you punch him in the face.” ~~ Harry Neale, on how to fix the Sabres season.
For the sake of argument, Op, how many "good months" did he have last year? It's only fair.
Vanek actually got BETTER as the season went on last year. I remember I thought he was a weak link at the beginning of the season, but after the new year he went on a tear.
This year, he started slow and when he heated up in February, I had some hope for him. But then he cooled off again in March. Like several people already said, he's streaky and he doesn't put in a full season. At times he doesn't put in a full game.
To be fair, it's not entirely his fault. The FO is trying to use him like a Drury or an Ovechkin or a Crosby/Malkin and he's simply not that caliber of player. But LW is still dead wrong- Vanek is behind where he was last year and has not stepped up the way his contract and role on the team suggests he should.
