Re: Official Olympic Hockey Thread
Does it make any sense for NHL players to be playing in the Olympics? What happens to the Sabres playoff chances if Miller or another star player gets injured, for example?
This lowly cart.... it hits harder and has a higher yards
per play average than the Bills' offense!

Miller could get injured - yea - but whatever. Odds are he'll be fine.Last edited by DMBcrew36; 02-14-2010, 12:22 PM.

It was once a celebration of amateur competition. Now it's just yet another extension of the typical corporate greed, largess, excess, ad nauseum that's penetrated permeated our society during my lifetime.

I don't understand why you're complaining. "Corporate greed and excess!?!!?? OH NO!!!! GLOBALIZATION!!!!?!?! MERCY ME!!!!"
You should just boycott the entire Olympics, then, because it's no different than any other event - it's the best in the world. If I wanted to watch amateur hockey, I'll tape one of my men's league games or go to a Niagara University game. People want to see the best hockey players in the world, competing for their countries.Last edited by DMBcrew36; 02-14-2010, 04:02 PM.

I am left shaking my head at the utter naivety of your statement. You clearly lack the longevity, life experience, and perspective to fully understand that the 'professional' Olympics of today is a phenomena of the last 20 years or so.
For many decades the U.S. Olympic team was all amateurs. In fact, the celebrated and legendary 1980 Team USA Hockey Team was ALL AMATEUR, and yet their victory in the Lake Placid Olympics remains one of the greatest U.S. Olympic moments of all time.

Why do you want to watch mediocre hockey when we can watch the best of the best?Last edited by DMBcrew36; 02-14-2010, 04:49 PM.
