You better have a lucky rabbit foot or something - no way U.S. gets to the Gold game ahead of Sweden, Russia, or Canada.

I'm seeing Canada v. Russia for the Gold/Silver. U.S. will play for Bronze against Sweden.

      Canada v. U.S. for Gold/Silver in Women's.

Does it make any sense for NHL players to be playing in the Olympics? What happens to the Sabres playoff chances if Miller or another star player gets injured, for example?

This lowly cart.... it hits harder and has a higher yards
per play average than the Bills' offense!

Mmm what do you mean -- the Olympics are GREAT for the NHL. It raises awareness for the game. If U.S.A. by a miracle makes it to the Gold medal game against Canada, the NHL will be boosted big-time.

Miller could get injured - yea - but whatever. Odds are he'll be fine.

The Olympics would just be another college hockey tournament if it wasn't for the NHL. Keep NHL players in the Olympics.

It doesn't make sense that the X-Gamers are in the Olympics either. Sean White makes 9 million a year....not exactly what I would call an 'amateur'. But the Olympics 'is what it is'.

It's just like with hockey -- you send your best in the sport. If the NHL werent to send their best, and snowboarding weren't to send its best, then what's the point?

You don't remember when the Olympics were good - for instance, 1980 and the U.S. Hockey team, do you?

It was once a celebration of amateur competition. Now it's just yet another extension of the typical corporate greed, largess, excess, ad nauseum that's penetrated permeated our society during my lifetime.

We see the best in amateur competition at the World Juniors every year. Now it's time to see the best in the world of the highest level players.

I don't understand why you're complaining. "Corporate greed and excess!?!!?? OH NO!!!! GLOBALIZATION!!!!?!?! MERCY ME!!!!"

You should just boycott the entire Olympics, then, because it's no different than any other event - it's the best in the world. If I wanted to watch amateur hockey, I'll tape one of my men's league games or go to a Niagara University game. People want to see the best hockey players in the world, competing for their countries.

I am left shaking my head at the utter naivety of your statement. You clearly lack the longevity, life experience, and perspective to fully understand that the 'professional' Olympics of today is a phenomena of the last 20 years or so.

For many decades the U.S. Olympic team was all amateurs. In fact, the celebrated and legendary 1980 Team USA Hockey Team was ALL AMATEUR, and yet their victory in the Lake Placid Olympics remains one of the greatest U.S. Olympic moments of all time.

Sounds like you're an old fart who wants to hold on to stale memories. I know that it was all amateurs until 1998 (except that the Russia team the U.S. beat in 1980 was a PROFESSIONAL team), and I'm shaking my head because you lack the understanding that I don't give one crap about amateurs - I want the best players in the world playing. I don't want to watch amateurs. AGAIN, if I wanted to watch amateurs, I'd stay at the rink after my 9:15 game tonight and watch other mens league games.

Why do you want to watch mediocre hockey when we can watch the best of the best?
