I agree that they are pretty far out of it. But he knows Miller is our team. Without him, we easily fall out of the playoffs. Plus he has Tim Thomas and Quick on the bench. Why not play one of those guys against the teams that we can easily beat? Give them a chance to play in the Olympic games.

I'm not sure if Biron is necessarily the answer. But we definitely need a backup goalie. Ryan Miller is going to be exhausted after these games and will need a break, plus we want him ready for the playoffs. Lalime won't give us the ability to rest him for 1/3 or even 1/2 of the games.

Biron is the best available option for the amount of money he will be owed for the rest of the season.

It would be a huge benefit to get a backup goalie that knows our system and doesn't struggle. Biron would have that benefit and Lindy would have confidence in him, something he doesn't have with many other backups.

Did I really just see an Olympic game end on a shootout?

It would have been hilarious if Crosby didn't make it.

Where have you been? They had shootouts back in '94.

I might have the year wrong (too lazy to google it) but I beleive in 1988 Sweeden won Gold in a shootout - Peter Forsberg on Corey Hirsch (Canada)

It was 94 actually... they made a postage stamp in Sweden out of the winning goal.

Mikey, they've been using the shootout in the Olympics for a long time, that was kind of the basis of bringing it to the NHL coming out of the lockout.

Sorry...but I didn't remember that. I was just a little shocked that the game went down to a shootout. What happens in a gold medal round? Would it really come down to a shootout for the gold medal? Or does it revert to Overtime, like the NHL does?

By the way, the two late games last night are exactly why Olympic hockey is great to watch (for those who have been constantly *****ing about it).
