Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin
Gabe Carimi, Wisconsin
Height: 6-8. Weight: 320.
Projected 40 Time: 5.01.
Projected Round (2011):
10/23/2010- vs. Iowa
7:20- Falls to ground as he drove into Clayborn. Shows that he has some limitations on how nimble he is.
2:00- Does a great job moving Clayborn.
0:55- Consistently getting push on Clayborn and moving him back.
0:18- Takes good angles and sets a decent base.
14:30- Tries to kick slide, sets deep enough but gets blown back by Clayborn.
13:43- Uses strong leverage on Clayborn and held him up well.
12:44- Short in where he sets, Clayborn gets around the edge but the runner was already by.
10:31- Arm length appears to be very good.
10:23- Can stay with the defender, maintain a good base and sustain the block... even in space. He's a better run blocker than pass blocker.
9:27- Shows what the issue with him is on this play. He doesn't slide deep enough and gets beat around the edge by Clayborn who gets a hand on the QB and forces the ball out.
2:08- Again is beat deep around the edge. He has to kick slide and set deeper or he wont be able to play LT in the NFL.
9:21- Shows you the fight in one on one battles with a top DE. He's a mauler.
8:53- Slid fairly well but the angle was wrong and again could have been beat around the end.
8:23- Lumbers a bit to get to the second level but does a nice job of shoving his man around.
0:57- Has some real ability to dominate in the run game. Uses his size and leverage well, can get a real push, and also is able to react with his hands quickly.
Carimi is a monster of a man who has long arms, good but not great athleticism, and who likes to get in there and fight it out. He's a better run blocker than pass blocker at this point. He starts at LT but has shown that he may not have the quickness or technique to play LT in the NFL. At LT in the NFL he may only be average at best and may be beaten by the speed rushers. But as a RT he could be potentially dominant. He has good strength and will maul defenders at times. He usually uses good leverage and wins battles with his strength.
