All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
Please use this thread to report any issues you come across

Here's some feedback from actual people with the names. I appreciate the feedback whether it be good or bad.
As for how you feel about kids being picked on... kids will get picked on for a million different things... I have the most un-original name ever and still caught **** for it. kids will be kids. It's our job as parents to help make our son proud of who is. None of your concerns phase me in the least.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.
Boys names are hard, there really aren't very many good ones out there. And the good ones are so over-used you almost don't want to use them. I didn't have one boy name picked out but I had at least 10 girl's names. We read the entire baby name book before we decided on Connor.
There's not a stone in my heart I've left unturned
Not a piece of my soul that I ain't searched
The only answer I found for all this hurt
Is there ain't not answer here on earth

Why do you want to spell it "Julien" instead of "Julian?"
Because then you're only an "N" away from being called "Julia" by the teacher!
There are a lot of names I'm indifferent to. And girl names can go in funky directions without too much harm. If we were talking about a girl I'd be saying, "sure, Kaighleighe is lovely, spell it anyway you want to, she'll be thrilled!"
But boys like names that are boyish.
For whatever reason.
I'd at least wait until one male zoner admits he'd wouldn't mind being named Jude/Julien himself, or naming one of his male kids that name.
This poll should never have been started without a "something else" option! It would be interesting to see how many would have voted for that.

Where did you get those links?
Soooo . . . . . the most common thing they say about the bullying potential for Julien/Julian is that it's effeminate. Like Patti said.

I really would not care. I got picked on enough as it was, so that would not bother me. And if my wife wanted to name our kid that, I would not have a problem with it. I did date a girl once who had a kid named Julian.
