Marcus Cannon, OT, Texas Christian University

    Marcus Cannon, OT, TCU
    Height: 6-6. Weight: 350.
    Projected 40 Time: 5.40.
    Projected Round (2011):

    Preseason Comments:

7/24/2010- Marcus Cannon is an athletic workout warrior who's measurables will impress scouts. He had a solid junior season last year and did not give up a sack. Cannon starts at right tackle and may need to stay there in the NFL. However, he moves well for a man his size and with his athleticism, he may get a look on the left side. Cannon has the ability to bench-press 480 pounds and has posted 750-pound numbers on the squat rack. Source: http://www6.lexisnexis.com/publisher...236170&start=5. Cannon is also a shot putter and his top throw of 54 feet, 10 1/4 inches ranks third all-time in TCU history. Cannon is able to do a double front flip, a one-and-a-half on a diving board.

    Comments:

    9/10/2010- vs. Ore St.

    1st Qtr:

8:33- Is a wide bodied guy. He has some quickness but it isnt elite.
7:20- Shows only average quickness. He creates the wall, but needs to lock his arms and string the DE wide rather than kick sliding along the edge. Looks like he has marginal quickness for a LT. He really looks more like a G to me.
0:48- Nice job firing into Paea on this run play. He plays with a bit of nastiness but isnt overly intense so far.
0:08- Decent strength on this play, pushing the DE around and off balance.

    2nd Qtr:
11:16- Nice job getting out to the second level for a cut block. Could be a solid G.
10:51- Pancakes his man on this run play. Shows you he has the strength.

Marcus has average quickness for the position. He has a good wide body and decent strength. He doesnt always play with the intensity you would like. His abilities on the edge are borderline. He doesnt kick slide as well as you would like which may lead to rushers getting the edge on him. He uses good technique but he also doesnt have long arms. He really looks more like a G.

What round would you comfortably place him?

I could see 5-7. I wasn't that impressed. There's OT's in the mid rounds that I like better.
