    Preseason Comments:

7/23/2010- Andy has been successful at the collegiate level but his completion percentages have been a bit on the low side. Hes an athletic quarterback who will need to show more polish in his senior year. He has a quick release and gets the ball out fast. He throws a bit 3/4. His footwork could be better. His throws have decent velocity but his arm strength is not elite by any means. Dalton also doesn't throw tight spirals that often. He has decent mobility and rushed for 522 yards and 3 TD's in 09. He lacks ideal height and weight but at 6' 2", he can get by. With one win, the fifth year senior will beat Sammy Baugh for wins at TCU.

    Comments:

    9/10/2010- vs. Ore St.

    1st Qtr:

13:00- Bad throw for a pick. Off target, wobbly. Has a weird throwing motion.
10:19- Can run a little, but hes not really quick. TCU runs the spread.
8:54- NFL quality deep throw. tight spiral, on the money. He has a fairly quick release.
0:50- Has no one around him and throws off target down the middle. His release is a bit side armed. Mechanics are questionable.
0:08- Takes a sack. Multiple plays now where he has held the ball. This play had 5 receivers, none of them were open? Possible decision making concerns? Afetr reviewing it, he was locked into one guy and had several guys open short.

    2nd Qtr:

10:53- Pressure so he just throw it up there. Luckily, there was pass interference. He makes some bad decisions at times.
10:11- Decent velocity and a nice spiral on this 13 yard pass to the L.

In this game Dalton left me with some concerns about his decision making. He either held on to the ball way to long or ran when he had guys open, or he just threw it up there. He has a decent arm and can throw a nice spiral but his accuracy can be erratic and his mechanics need work. I plan to watch more from him.
