    Preseason Comments:

7/27/2010- Dontay Moch is an athletic freak. At 245 pounds, he runs a confirmed 4.25 at Nevada's pro day in May. Source: http://rob-rang.blogs.cbssports.com/...82485/22523668. He holds Nevada's record for squats with 700 pounds. Source: http://www.nevadawolfpack.com/ViewAr...CLID=204919208. Hes very productive sack artist as a DE. At only 6' 1", he will need to move to either rush LB'er or even S. He is short for LB'er standards, but if he has the strength, we know he can rush the passer and with his speed he certainly can drop into coverage. Because of his size, he will slip on draft day, but because of his athleticism, he will blow up the combine. He will get drafted. If ever there is a guy who doesn't fit a mold but is worth the risk, its Moch.

    Comments:

    9/17/2010- vs. Cal

    1st Qtr:
7:35- Short but stocky build. Has the frame to add muscle.
6:33- Gets off the cut block and closes fast on the QB.
5:13- In position to make the play but gets manhandled. His size will be an issue if he doesnt have space to work. They are playing him up on the line, his NFL position would be OLB.

    2nd Qtr:

11:42- Shows what crazy speed can do, gets a nice sack.
8:15- A bit tentative on this play, didn't tackle when he could have.
7:34- Decent strength collapsing the pocket.
7:13- Good job covering the TE.
6:13- Dropped into coverage on a run play.

    3rd Qtr:
13:04- Again isn't doing what he could. He should try to get the receiver down who's running on the opposite side of the field.
12:33- Poor angle, goes outside and the runner runs inside by him.
12:05- Diagnoses the play and runs up to the RB in the backfield but does it at half speed and doesn't get there. Really questionable intensity.
    10:02- Another tentative tackle.
8:41- Displays high intensity and quickness on this play. Isn't really involved but its noteworthy because it may be that he is choosing what plays to get involved in.
7:57- Another situation where he doesn't get involved. He's in the middle, the run is to the middle, and he chooses to not fly up to the ball carrier for the tackle.
6:58- Shows he can close fast on the QB.
5:17- Good job collapsing the pocket.

    4th Qtr:
13:45- Good job collapsing the pocket again.
11:10- Finally steps up and makes a play on the RB, chases him down and tackles him at the feet. Goes out with an injury.

Dontay Moch has a ton of athletic ability but simply doesn't play with enough intensity. He's tentative to get to the ball and make the play. He has very good strength and very good quickness and speed. He should able to cover TE's with ease and has enough strength to collapse the pocket on the rush. But, if he doesn't have the desire it wont ever matter. Due to his above average speed and strength, Moch could be a very nice ST'er.

Lightning quick first step, with great acceleration, Id venture to say he may have the quickest 10 yd split in the country, at least defensively.

He's a one dimensional pass rusher though who can only speed rush and often runs himself out of plays.

With that pass rush ability and speed, I would think a team would give him a shot at OLB. But with that speed, why not even S?

No coverage skills, not a good wrap up tackler, his future is at 3-4 OLB.

His height has little to do with his ability to know how to technically wrap and drive through a ball carriers legs. Watch his tape, you'll see it.
