    Preseason Comments:

7/30/2010- Stephen Paea is a disruptive force in the middle of the Beavers defense. Hes incredibly strong and may break the record for bench press at the combine. Paea has benched 225 lbs 44 times before. His weight is reportedly up to over 300 pounds. From Oregon States bio page, "as of mid-may he holds all of OSU's defensive tackle records in the weight room - vertical jump (30"), shuttle (4.37), 225-pound bench (44 reps), bench press (500 lbs), squat (600 lbs), clean (365 lbs) - all would be in the top-10 statistically at the 2010 NFL Combine." He has good quickness and with his strength will be a force to reckon with in the NFL. He may be better suited to play DE in a 3-4 rather than NT, but he could probably play either. We may hear echoes of Haloti Ngata when hearing comments on Paea.

    Comments:

    9/10/2010- vs. TCU

    1st Qtr:
0:48- Bottled up by Cannon. Looks like he may need room to work.
0:08- Doesnt quit on plays, keeps driving with his legs. Gets the sack on Dalton. He's a compact, thick guy with a high motor. Seems too small to play the nose, may need to be a 4-3 DT.

    2nd Qtr:
10:53- Shows good shiftiness and quickness getting through the block and putting pressure on Dalton.
5:43- Shows his quickness and motor again getting off the G's block and into Dalton's face.

Paea is a compact guy with good strength, who can get leverage and close fast with his above average quickness. To me, he is best suited to play DT in a 4-3 scheme for a team like Indy.
