    NORMAN — When Oklahoma defensive end Jeremy Beal was in the fourth grade he hung around his brother, Stephen, and his eighth grade buddies. Being the youngest, Beal was an easy target. One time he lost three teeth and was rushed to the emergency room.

    "We were just play fighting," Beal said. "My brother did a flip. His foot kicked me in the mouth... I got beat up a lot. It made me tough."

    Toughness developed at a young age was the foundation for a player now viewed as one of the nation's top defensive ends. But it's his quickness and strive-for-perfection preparation that has put Beal in position to possibly become OU's career sacks leader.
