Can Stupar be a decent starter for us?

Or is he just a placeholder until Nelson gets his act together or Schouman gets healthy? Can he do more than the naked bootleg dumpoff? Can anyone attest to his blocking?

I'd assume he's just a warm body to hold down the fort til Nelson comes off suspension.

Without Nelsons suspension and Schoumans injury, it wouldn't be hard to fathom Stupar being cut.

He can't block for ass and he can't challenge the deep middle. He's a 3rd TE on a normal team.

He had the best camp and is currently the best TE on the roster... which isn't saying much. He's serviceable at best.

Was he the declared starter before Nelson's suspension?

would be a number 3 TE or cut on most other teams

I ASSume that the team had some knowledge of it coming which had a hand in the decision making process. I could be wrong on that but it's definitely a possibility.

                No.

I watched him Saturday. He can't block. At all.

Decent receiver. But nothing special there. He is better than Foschi and George.

Right now I would rather have Robert Royal as he can block and would help the running game more.

                  Schouman > Nelson > Stupar.

Schouman is a good blocker who showed he can catch, Nelson is a pass catcher who can stretch the middle and can somewhat block... As of now? Stupar starts because they aren't serviceable.

Chase Coffmann might be on the bubble - the 2nd year 3rd rounder seems to have his foot healed, but might not make the cut because of numbers. I'd consider him a very large wr, instead of a TE, though. A Teyo Johnson, perhaps.

With all these colleges running their spread offenses, it's tough to find a "classic" tight end that blocks and catches nowadays.

Decent receiver, lousy blocker. I don't think any of the tight ends remaining on the roster are good blockers. Schouman is the best technique wise, but he is significantly undersized. Nelson shows some potential as a blocker, but he's not there yet.
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

The 2 guys we signed last week are currently our best 2 TE's.

His last name should be Subpar.

I think he is a good route runner, has good hands, and good awareness in the passing game. His blocking is average.

The problem is that Nelson couldnt block a double eye poking attack with an extended hand in front of his nose.
