    Cam Newton, QB, Auburn

    Cameron Newton*, Auburn
    Height: 6-6. Weight: 246.
    Projected 40 Time: 4.77.
    Projected Round (2012):

    Career Stats:
YEAR CMP ATT YDS CMP% YPA LNG TD INT SACK RAT
    2007 5 10 40 50.0 4.00 14 0 0 0 83.60
    2008 1 2 14 50.0 7.00 14 0 0 0 108.80

    11/28/2010- vs. Miss (replay)

    1st Qtr:

13:19- Not a tight spiral on this roll out pass, never looked off the primary guy
12:04- Nice job getting off the press on the reception for a TD
8:55- Short throw in the flat
*8:48- Went through progressions on this roll out and hit the guy over the middle who was open. Average spiral but on target
*3:43- Didn't telegraph the throw to the right side; kept his eyes down field and then went to the short right. Not great zip on these short throws and needs to throw a tighter spiral
*2:54- Another good job going through his reads. Throws it a bit high to the open guy on the left.
2:22- Throw to primary guy, Blake. Throws could use more zip
*0:29- Converts the 3rd and 14. Looks off the primary guy and goes back to him. Good zip and spiral on this ball. Point his lead foot. 28 yard gain

    2nd Qtr:
14:53- Tried to look off the guy he was going to until the last second. The ball was tipped. That may be an issue with doing that
14:35- Another head fake. Looks right and throws back to the left on the screen
11:41- Fumble but Cam gets back to make the tackle. Newton tried to keep the hand off and stripped it out of the RB's hands
10:03- Nice poise waiting for #18 to get open over the middle
9:47- Has wiggle and can make some people miss when running
9:11- Looked left and then quickly looked back to the middle and made the throw
**6:52- Very impressive strike for the long TD throw. Tight spiral, right over the shoulder. Release isn't real quick but isn't slow either. Delivery isn't fully over the top but isn't side armed
6:30- It's important to note that Newton is not being pressured and has plenty of time to throw
0:39- Nice fast ball to the right sideline
0:27- Overthrew Blake over the middle for a sure TD. Really the 1st off-target throw by him in this game

Cam Newton had an impressive half in this game. He has a deceptive ability to spread the ball around and is able to look off his main target. This may be effective when DB's try to key on his eyes. He has plenty of arm strength and can make any NFL throw. He is usually very accurate and doesn't make many mis-throws. The delivery looked fast enough and he has good mechanics. He can be a bit sloppy in his footwork and the ball will flutter when he does it. His athleticism is the big thing people will notice, he can run, catch, and can deliver the ball well on roll-outs. It should be noted that he had virtually no pressure in this half. It's important to see what he does under pressure and how he handles it. Cam is a bit raw and can benefit from staying in school. But his hype is so high that he may want to bolt for the dollars.
